About me
Arijana is a Territorial Executive Director, Child and Family Services, Department of Health and Social Services with GNWT. She has worked in the public sector for over 25 years, ranging from front line service delivery to senior and executive positions with significant experience in the multicultural and Indigenous communities, in both rural and remote, and not for profit sector. She has led numerous jurisdictional change initiatives with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplaces.
She is a tireless advocate for supporting and empowering individuals and their communities by promoting the importance of self-actualization, employee wellness and psychological health and safety.
Arijana’s work includes contributing to a published leadership textbook with a chapter on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Indigenous and multicultural workplaces in the Arctic.
Arijana holds a BSW in Indigenous Social Work, MSW, MBA, and presently is pursuing a Masters in Indigenous Relations and a Ph.D. in public service leadership.
She is a settler, an immigrant, a mother of three boys, a partner, a sister, an aunt, a daughter and a lifelong student.
Since making Canadian Arctic home, Arijana has traveled across the territories, listening, and learning from Indigenous People who have been gracious and welcoming in sharing their wisdom and knowledge, for which she is deeply grateful.
