About me
A creative couple from Ross River, Yukon, Dennis and Jenny—also known as Jennis—have fused together knowledge, culture, and humour.
Jenny hails from East Germany. Eighteen years ago, she took a leap of faith, followed her heart, and moved to the most remote community in the Yukon to live with her partner, Dennis Shorty. There, she witnessed the many talents Dennis had nurtured over the years and became the manager and promoter of Dennis Shorty Fine Art. Together, they created an adventurous and exciting life, which she will share during their presentation.
Dennis Shorty, a member of the Kaska First Nation and a residential school survivor from Ross River, Yukon, was born beneath a tree. Growing up with his parents, grandparents, aunties, and uncles, he was always surrounded by art and music. He is a Master Carver, singer, songwriter, knowledge keeper, Elder, storyteller, actor, radio show host, and much more.
Together, they will present an interactive Healing Through Drumming, Singing, and Dance workshop. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to experience it firsthand! Please bring your own drum if you have one.
