Mary Vanstone is a dedicated healthcare professional with over 20 years of experience, specializing in improving health outcomes in diverse settings. Beginning her career as a mental health and addictions clinician, she has spent much of her time working in small and rural First Nation communities in Northern BC. Over the last 14 years, she has focused on primary care and healthcare leadership in progressively senior levels, playing a key role in shaping policies and programs. As Assistant Deputy Minister for Community and Primary Care with the Yukon Government, Mary oversees nursing, public health, emergency medical services, mental wellness and substance use services, midwifery, and primary care clinics, ensuring accessible, high-quality care for Yukoners.
With expertise in quality improvement methodologies and lean principles, Mary drives initiatives that enhance efficiency and patient-centred care. She is a strong advocate for health equity, holistic approaches, and culturally informed practices. Known for her strategic leadership and commitment to collaboration, she continuously works to create sustainable health solutions while mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
